Last week, the Mixamo team got together to discover all of the amazing creations that were submitted during the past two months. This marked the end of Mixamo’s Third 3D Character Creation Contest (check out our second contest here) and we were really excited to see the great momentum it gained among the 3D modelling community.

Discovering and discussing the scores of entries with everyone at the Mixamo office was a blast... but it was also very tough! Making the final nominations for first, second and third place was definitely no easy task and ended up being a very close call... but we are extremely proud to congratulate the winners today:

First place : “Goblin Archer” by Dmitry Shareyko

Dmitry won a $1000 cash, 50 Mixamo Credits and a 1 Year Membership with Blend Swap!

We’re also hoping to share Dmitry’s interview with you guys on our blog soon, so stay tuned!
Mixamo will also offer to purchase his awesome character and add it to Mixamo’s 3D Character Collection.

Second Place : “Vampire Assassin” by Alex Lusth

Alex won a $500 cash, 30 Mixamo Credits and a 6 Month Membership with Blend Swap!
We’re also hoping to share Alex’s interview with you guys on our blog soon, so stay tuned!
Mixamo will also offer to purchase his awesome character and add it to Mixamo’s 3D Character Collection.

Third Place : “Nightshade” by Julien Friedrich

Julien won a $250 cash, 15 Mixamo Credits and a 1 Month Membership with Blend Swap!
We’re also hoping to share Julien’s interview with you guys on our blog soon, so stay tuned!
Mixamo will also offer to purchase his awesome character and add it to Mixamo’s 3D Character Collection.

...but Dmitry, Alex, and Julien are not the only winners of this contest: All Mixamo Character Contests submissions are individually considered by our team and can all receive a purchase offer by Mixamo to later be added to our 3D Online Character store. This time, 27 character submissions have received a purchase offer from Mixamo: Congratulations!

Props to you guys! All three creations are amazing! Each of them has a defined style, great personality, intricate details, creative concepts and gorgeous beauty shots! Congratulations!

Now, as you guys know... here at Mixamo, we’re passionate about animation and we can tell that these characters have personality! They truly deserve to be given the freedom to move around! Can’t you just imagine that Goblin shooting his bow, the Vampire Assassin crouch and stealthily move in the cover of darkness, and Nightshade raise her staff in the air, uttering some mysterious incantation? Wouldn't it be cool to run them through the Mixamo Auto-Rigger and start applying some of our monster, action or adventure motions to these cool characters? Want to try it out and post a video of the results? Please do: We would love to see your work in action!

As mentioned earlier on, we really had a hard time narrowing down our choice to only three entries because there were so many other awesome submissions. Here are some of those who really resonated with us:

Best Troll: Christianto Gunawan -- “Forest Troll”

Best Rogue: Giles Ruscoe -- “The Rogue”

Best Knight: Matej Mo -- “Captain of the Guard”

Best Archer: Mikel Fick -- “Elven Archer”

Best Shaman: Januarius Laygo -- “Maw”

Best Demon: Tinko Wiezorrek -- “Goeddy”

Best Necromancer: Nataliia Ziakhor -- “Necromancer”

Best Beast: Kurniawan Wandah -- “Warrok”

Best Hybrid: Marvin Aure -- “Ganfaul”

Best styling: Amauri Ploteixa -- “Uriel”

Most Original Concept: Bartosz Styperek -- “Lola”

Most Snarky Character!: Rosie Coleman -- “Lady Alessandra”

Cutest Character!: Zac Vasquez -- “Amara”

We can’t wait to launch our next contest in a few weeks, presenting a new cool challenge to the community and inviting everyone to join in on the fun, so stay tuned.

In the meantime, if you still haven’t browsed through our 3D character collection, tried our Auto-Rigger or our character animation tool, give them a try and let us know what you think!
