This is our newest Animation Reference Library video to add to our growing collection. This video is of a “tripping and falling forward” cycle, where the 3D biped trips and falls forward. We are demonstrating this motion by using two new custom characters from our Custom Character Pro feature. One is a young male and the other is with a young female.

We retained the four views of the motion with a slight edit in placement of the top view, side view, 3/4 view and front views. The first view of the run motion is with the custom motion sliders set at the original parameters. For this motion, they are: style (from natural to an exaggerated version of the fall), rate (slow or fast, how slow or fast does the fall occur), and finally, overdrive (how fast does the motion proceed).

The first view is the average-looking young man, tripping over a can and falling with all of the parameters set in the middle. In the second view of the tripping motion, the custom motion sliders are changed so that the style is much more exaggerated and the rate of the fall occurs much faster. This works well with the young female who is not tripping over an object, but possibly just her own two feet! For more great tripping motions, visit Mixamo’s motion page!
