Image Metrics gives demo at Mixamo
Image Metrics stopped by a few days ago to talk about their amazing facial capture software. They've worked with Ubisoft, EA, Rockstar Games, Intel and more on many many amazing products. There tech and software is without a doubt some of the most advanced and innovative I've ever seen. In short, their tech allows users to recorded footage of an actor and using a pixel based tracking algorithm map and track the face as it moves. Next animators come in and teach the software what facial shapes correspond to what facial expressions. This means the animators have full control over the expressive features of the character and look but those animator created facial features are driven by a real human actor. It's a perfect blend of animator's skill and control plus the speed and flexibility of motion capture. Below is a few captures and a video of their tech set up in out offices!
